Once Your Child Learns the 12 Secrets of Writing,
you’ll only need to invest 10 Minutes (or less) a day. -Dr. Fred Ray Lybrand
(Reason #1) 99% of schools and writing courses get kids stressed out about grammar, spelling, and ‘correctness’. No wonder they can’t get what they’re trying to say on the page.
We turn the whole writing process upside-down. Kids happily write pages instead sentences. Even learning disabilities like dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, Asperger Syndrome, etc., are no longer keeping kids from writing.
Why You Should Be Worried
Why There is Hope
- The process is overwhelming
- I don’t know how to get my child inspired about writing
- I don’t know where to start
- I just want them to write something, anything, on the page
- I’m trying to undo the harmful, lasting effects of both public and private school
- How can I teach when I was never taught how to write myself?
- How do I get my son interested in writing?
- I don’t know if my child is doing enough
- How do I correct my child’s paper?
- How do I get my child to think up what to write about?
- Our biggest challenge is lack of time
- Our biggest challenge is finding a writing approach that fits into our educational philosophy and doesn’t produce tears every time I ask the children to write.
Face it, grammar teachers don’t win the Nobel Prize for Literature.
(Reason #2) It’s About the Fear:
Which in turn means your child is thinking
Bad Writing = Bad Me
Which in turn means your child is resisting writing
Writing = Pain
Which in turn means you must make your child write
Not Writing = Bad Teacher
Which in turn means you are thinking
Bad Teacher = Pain
Which in turn means you you must conflict
Child’s Pain vs. Mommy’s Pain

I wanted to write, but it was painful until I learned the WRITING’S 12 SECRETS.
Here’s the simple truth; if education could teach someone to write I wouldn’t have had to unravel almost everything I learned in order to get free to write the 8 books (and many articles) I’ve written.
I went to a college prep school in the foothills of the Appalachians in a little town called Anniston, Alabama. In taking the ACT I scored well enough for an instant admission to The University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa); however, I basically flunked the English section. I didn’t get it…I couldn’t keep all the rules in my head and writing things exactly perfect as I had been taught.
As a result, I majored in English Literature at Alabama. I minored in Fiction Writing and I was even in the English Honor Society. My Law School admission results were where Harvard Law School accepts applicants.
Am I bragging? Nope…I’m complaining!
I still had no idea how to write. I had no understanding of grammar; in fact, I couldn’t find a single grammar course to take while in college. The only grammar course available was for Engineers (go figure)!
It took me a lot of pain and a lot of experimentation to figure out how to be sure my grammar was solid, my punctuation was pure, and my words were well chosen. The key came one day at the beach in Gulf Shores, Alabama, in the summer of 2002. In that moment, I notice something amazing about music…that suddenly unlocked everything I really needed to know about grammar. We any of us make a connection in our head it is because of the great variety of people and experiences that have been a part of the process up to that point. I’d love to thank them all, but somewhere in my head as I watched the ocean and wrote some thoughts I realized:
MUSIC IS INSTINCTIVE
(WRITING IS TOO)
That’s it! Musical notes are put together in a particular way that matches what our brains can recognize. Our brains are designed, hard-wired, and set up to know the difference between noise and a melody. In fact, it can easily and instantly tell that Twinkle Twinkle Little Star is not the same tune as Happy Birthday. Even more amazing it the fact that we don’t have to be able to sing well to notice this difference. In fact, we can make up tunes / songs without knowing anything about music theory or composition. Through a random set of circumstances, I was talking with David Coverdale (Deep Purple / Whitesnake) at a friends house and he told me he couldn’t read music! That doesn’t at all mean he doesn’t understand it.
That’s when it hit me! It is EXACTLY the same with grammar. We know when something is grammatically OK or grammatically bad. The reason is that our brain is designed, hard-wired, and set up to know the difference between what sounds right and what sounds wrong when we hear others speak. We know (even in the south) that “Jimmie and me is done gonna go to the creek today,” isn’t quite right
Next, I started writing in a way that simply sounded OK to me when I read it out loud. Soon I added a simple code I noticed for punctuation— which meant I was writing much better and much easier! Also, I soon discovered (because I’m a little nerdy) that what ‘sounded right’ also matched the grammar books. Soon I was writing for how things sound when read out loud instead of trying to remember the 31 rules for commas and how to avoid the passive voice. Did it work?
Did it ever! This insight led a professor (who studied at Harvard) to comment on my doctoral dissertation (that he didn’t agree with), “I will say that your paper is one of the most well written / correctly written papers I’ve read.” Nice, huh?
Guess what… Following our easy-to-understand method will teach almost anyone from 8 to 88 the most powerful and effective way them to write. It’s something Shakespeare understood (he sure didn’t study grammar), and it’s something you will understand very soon. Not only that, I’m going to show you how to
- Cure your student’s spelling issues
- How to come up with what to write about
- How to happily seek help
- How to make his writing interesting
- How to not worry about getting it all right the first time
- And, a whole host of other things
In fact, in a few minutes you can get started…and best of all…it ABSOLUTELY isn’t like what they teach in school. Someday they may, but sadly teachers think they are supposed to teach kids to write. Here’s the fact:
Teachers are there to cause students to learn…they should NEVER be there to teach them!
If you understand the distinction I just made, then you are clearly ready for the most astonishing approach to writing you’ve ever seen. It is the end result of over $150,000 dollars I’ve spent on education…and the heart of proving the experts wrong that I believe God gave me… to instead pursue what REALLY WORKS.
I’m not keeping it a secret. Come join me in developing a generation of fine writers for work, life, and literature.

P.S. Jody (my wife of 31 years) told me that some people couldn’t as easily afford the course, so she asked me to think of a way to change that. I said, “Well, if people who get it and see it work…if they would tell others…that would help with the price.” I also reminded her that this is the least expensive curriculum or course available because one purchase can be used again for all the children in a home.
